About Us
Steve Nelson founder of Pools By Nelson, started in the swimming pool industry in 1967, working summers tying reinforced steel with his brothers. In 1972, after serving in the Vietnam War, Steve was hired as a plumber for Sunkist Pools and was quickly promoted to Foreman and worked there until he started Pools By Nelson in 1974. In 1990 Steve's son, Ryan Nelson, started working summers cleaning up pools, then onto plumbing and electrical work. In 1996, Ryan worked full time excavation, then became the Service Technician. In 2002 Ryan was promoted to Foreman and began supervising all phases of construction. In 2005 Ryan acquired his own Contractors License, and after 19 years of working his way from the bottom up, and with his Dad, Steve, retiring, he became the new owner of Pools By Nelson. Ryan personally supervises the construction of each pool to ensure the highest level of quality.

Mission Statement
| Leadership: |
A true leader has the confidence to stand alone, the courage to make tough decisions, and the compassion to listen to the needs of customers. One does not set out to be a leader, but becomes one by the quality of our actions and the integrity of our intent. In the end, leaders are much like eagles… they don’t flock, you find them one at a time.
True leaders are not those who strive to be first but those who are first to strive and who give their all for the success of the team. True leaders are first to see the need, envision the plan, and empower the team for action. By the strength of the leader’s commitment, the power of the team is unleashed.
A leader’s job is to look into the future, and to see the organization not as it is…but as it can become.
Leaders keep their eyes on the horizon, not just on the bottom line. |
| Integrity: |
The highest courage is to dare to be yourself in the face of adversity. Choosing right over wrong, ethics over convenience and truth over popularity… these are the choices that measure our success. Travel the path of integrity without looking back, for there is never a wrong time to do the right thing. |
| Excellence: |
Our achievements are shaped by the terrain of our lives and the strength of the foundations we set. In building the life we’ve imagined, we must be true to our beliefs, dare to be ethical, and strive to be honorable. For integrity is the highest ground to which we can aspire.
Excellence is the result of caring more than others think is wise, risking more than others think is safe, dreaming more than others think is practical, and expecting more than others think is possible. |
| Teamwork: |
Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.
Coming together is a beginning… keeping together is progress… working together is a success. |
| Character: |
Adversity does not build character… it reveals it. Sometimes in the waves of change we find our true direction. Unless we try to do something beyond what we have already mastered, we will never grow.
Our lives are not determined by what happens to us, but by how we react to what happens; not by what life brings to us, but by the attitude we bring to life. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes. It is a catalyst… a spark that creates extraordinary results. |
